ICT In the Classroom

In the primary classroom, the use of ICT and computing technology can produce highly engaging lessons, where children are focused, interested and inquisitive in their lesson content. A large variety of different technologies and programs exist which are regularly implemented during teaching.
Over the course of my GPP placement, I made use of splashtop mirroring technology, extensive use of smartboard technology and associated software, pic-collage applications on tablet computers and I began to explore the capabilities of the programming language Scratch; a project developed by MIT to introduce children to coding.
I have also had the opportunity to make use of Beebots and virtual Beebot applications on tablet computers to help children begin to understand the principles behind systematic thinking and programming.
In the sections below, I further expand upon the topics mentioned here and my reflection upon each of these subjects. Click each button to find out more about the topic in question.
Children and adults really enjoy using these tools as they can lead to highly engaging lesson content as well as reducing teacher workload - giving sessions the edge over those that lack it.
