Digital Literacy

Digital Literacy is the knowledge and skills used by a variety of different technological devices to act as a continuous, interoperational unit rather than discrete devices.
Digital media is incredibly powerful and accessible, allowing information to be readily and regularly accessed from anywhere within data connectivity. This is associated with many benefits but also disadvantages that children have to be made aware of for them to be safe and effective operators of technology. It is important for teachers to show children how to use technology appropriately and without breaking the law.
Digital literacy is concerned with many different elements and many schemes of work exist online for teachers and pupils to be guided into usage of computers safely by following one of these schemes.
As our use of technology diversifies, the domain of digital literacy will need to progressively evolve to meet the needs of pupils in our schools.
