Application Making Software
To integrate children's coding ability, design ideas and fantastic imaginations, application making software allows children to harness their ideas and create their own applications for use in the classroom. Children enjoy working towards tangible end products with a purpose, and the idea behind this kind of activity takes its impetus directly from this thirst for purposeful work.
One of the more commonly used applications to do this is Blippit App Maker, a piece of software that allows children to apply their coding skills and design to their idea. The simple and intuitive interface, based around Google's Blockly language allows children to make their apps with ease and enjoyment. Blippit allows children to share their own apps from their own accounts, which with investment of time and effort can be highly elaborate.

After exploring the program's capabilities and bearing in mind the appropriate age groups for this kind of activity, I feel that this could be the pinnacle of primary Computing, with children assembling all of their knowledge and underlying algorithmic knowledge and design to produce elaborate apps. I look forward to opportunities to apply this kind of lesson in the KS2 classroom.
